OUR PASTOR


Rev. Dr. Constance C. Evans

Rev. Dr. Constance C. Evans was born in Washington D.C. to the late Samuel and Grace Crowdy.  In 1981, Dr. Evans graduated from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) with a BBA in Business Management. After receiving her undergraduate degree Rev Evans began pursuing an MBA degree at UDC when she received the Call to preach the Gospel.  Rev. Evans answered God’s call and went to Howard University School of Divinity. While at Howard, Rev. Evans received the dean’s graduate fellowship as well as fellowships from the Ford Foundation and the Fund for Theological Education, along with other awards. In 1992, Rev Evans received a Masters of Divinity degree from Howard University School of Divinity.  In May, 2009, Rev. Evans received her Doctor of Ministry Degree in Preaching from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C.

Until recently, Dr. Evans served as the Director of Protestant Chaplaincy at Georgetown University from 1999 – 2010.  While at Georgetown, Dr. Evans ministered to over 5,000 students at the law, medical and main campuses. She was instrumental in leading the MLK programs on Georgetown’s campus as well as at the Kennedy Center. 

Dr. Evans is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  Dr. Evans began her ministry and accepted her call to preach at Ebenezer AME (Ft. Washington, Md) . She has served as a ministerial associate at Metropolitan AME (DC) and Big Bethel AME (Atlanta, GA).  On April 30, 2011, Dr Evans was appointed as the Senior Pastor at St Paul A.M.E. church in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Evans is known for her ability to encourage parishioners to grow spiritually and personally as well as for preaching the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Before her appointment in April 2011, Dr.  Evans served as the Senior Pastor at Wayman Good Hope A.M.E. in Severna Park, MD from 2004-2011. Dr. Evans has served several congregations as Pastor, Dickerson, Frostburg, Md, St John, Benedict, Maryland, and St. James, Frederick, Md. Dr. Evans is also a leader among ministers. She currently serves as a member of the board of examiners for the Washington conference and Capitol District as well as an instructor in the Washington Conference Board of Examiners.  She served as the Women in Ministry Caucus leader for the Capitol District of the Washington Conference.

Dr. Evans was recently appointed to the board of Trustees of the Washington  Theological Consortium, where over 12 theological schools are members along with business men and woman

Dr. Evans is a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a public service sorority, and a financial member of the Prince George’s Alumnae chapter.

Dr. Evans is married to Bro. John W. Evans, who is a great Christian man and the love of her life. Dr. Evans is the mother of Rev. Marques A. Wheeler, an Itinerant Deacon, in the AME church and a graduate of Wake Forest University Divinity School.    

Rev Evans’ favorite scripture is “choose you this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
